When Your Career Path is Aligned with God

By Chiara, Role Model Moms teacher / Outreach Worker

Recently I have been given the opportunity to serve in a new capacity at Toronto City Mission. In a new season of growing, the chance to transition into a teaching role at Role Model Moms came after Christmas. Although I will miss the kids and families in Flemingdon Park, I am excited to be doing something new that is aligned with my giftings and passions.  This is a unique opportunity for me as I have been trained and certified to teach. After all, this was the career path I had expected before God brought me to TCM.  What I did not expect was to be teaching adults.  This is a huge change for me but a challenge that I am happy to be working through.

Since starting with Role Model Moms in March I have met a wonderful group of women who I have the privilege of working with each day.  We have a small group of moms but I am so grateful to get to know them and be able to use my teaching skills to work alongside them.

As I get to know the ladies better and share in their trials and successes I am encouraged to pray for them and show them that they are loved.  Sometimes this looks like listening to them talk, sometimes it looks like holding their babies while they prepare a plate for their meal, and sometimes it is sending a text to check in.  Either way the number one prayer request in this new ministry is that the women know that they are loved by God.  As we come out of our Easter celebrations, I am reminded of God's great love for us and I am encouraged to continue this prayer for each women in the program.

"But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8
